This organization carries the responsibility for all sales and service operations involving the Cat and MaK brand marine products. Following the old Hanseatic claim that Hamburg is the “Gateway to the World”, Caterpillar Marine Power Sys- tems now directs and coordinates its marketing, sales and service activi- ties in the marine markets of the world from Hamburg - with the objec- tive of successfully developing our position in all sectors of this market. Our target is to reach a leading posi- tion for our high-speed and medium- speed marine diesel engines in all the market segments and application fields we cover. This will be achieved by skilled marketing, world-class pro- ducts and customer support excel- lence. To this end, we have consoli- dated Cat and MaK engine capabili- ties into one organization to combine our forces and harness the synergies which will achieve our strategic objectives. Proximity to markets and customers is an immensely important part of this strategy. We have therefore set			up organizations for the territories Europe/Africa/Middle East, Asia Pacific and the Americas. These and our various central technical divisions in- tensively support the regional dealer- ships who carry out all day to day sales and service duties for both Cat and MaK engine brands. They have the specialists with expertise, the well equipped workshops and the exten- sive parts stores they need to provide individual and comprehensive service, tailored to our customers’ needs. Being close to the market, these regional organizations help recognize market developments and trends rapidly, and thus enable us to react to market requirements as quickly and as effectively as possible. This strong, global network of sales and service organizations is an im- portant factor in achieving our growth objectives. One organization - two brands.
